"Would you build another custom home?" asked someone recently. My wife replied instantaneously "Definitely if Dave Hammer builds it for me." I could not agree more. The entire journey of building our dream home, from start to finish, was as pleasant an experience as one could imagine.
Dave introduced us to Chuck, an amazing architect who worked with us swiftly to create the plan we wanted. Dave took the time early on to listen and understand things we really cared about, our likes, and dislikes. It came to me as a surprise, over the year of construction, how much of these conversations he remembered and applied in making decisions at every step, from the foundation to the interiors.
I have never seen anyone as agile, responsive, responsible, and truly focused on our needs than Dave and his team. I have mentioned to my wife several times how the decisions along the way were made for safety and convenience of those who will live in the house and not for the convenience or ease of construction.
Dave, Debbie, Dave Jr., and Alex took the time to talk to us, meet with us, answer so many questions we had, always making us feel comfortable and be part of the whole process. They continuously gained and retained our trust by way of their actions instead of mere words. Their communications were quick, upfront, and clear. Also, they presented different options and offered practical guidance so that we can wisely choose what we liked.
Now that we have moved into the house, we are reflecting back at our experience and are so happy we choose to build with Hammer Homes—one of the best decisions we've made so far, hands down.

We are very impressed with the home that Hammer Homes built for us as well as the dedication and professionalism they displayed from contract signing through post-closing. They genuinely care about both the quality of their work and ensuring that the build process runs smoothly for their customers. In our case, they kept us continually updated on the status of the build even though we lived out of state during the entire construction period. They even invited us into their own homes to show us their final product. We greatly appreciated their approach to building a home "fully loaded" with upgraded features from the start rather than providing us with a laundry list of potential upgrades. They completed our home on time despite having to contend with the numerous material delays/shortages facing home builders during the COVID pandemic. I could not be happier with Hammer Homes. It was so obvious throughout the process that Dave Sr., Debbie and Dave Jr. actually care about us as people. That alone is a rare quality to find and is at the core of our great experience. When Dave says he builds a house like it's his own, it's the truth. They took time to talk through the things you don't know you don't know about building a house and made great suggestions in areas we would not have thought about. The home is beautiful, the quality is awesome and every guest we've had so far has commented how much they love it. While everyone we encountered was sympathetic to our circumstances, it wasDave and Debbie who embraced us and were honored to help re-build our home. The entire process was smooth and enjoyable. Dave's architect helped us design our own custom home, and even though I can be a bit of a challenge, neither Dave nor Debbie ever let it show. On our street alone, there are three Hammer Homes, not one of us has had an issue since day one. Sadly, some folks who went with other builders/contractors cannot say the same. We have a beautiful, well-constructed home, and if we ever chose to build another home, we would not hesitate to call Hammer Homes.

Three and a half years ago we moved into our home built by Hammer Custom Homes. All of our previous homes were existing homes. This is the first one we had built just for us. So we were nervous. On top of that we were living out of state during the design and building phases. The situation was susceptible to countless errors and misunderstandings. There were none. On our initial meeting we spoke of our needs and desires for a home. Dave and Debbie took it from there and came up with a design. We traded that design back and forth and until we were satisfied. Then construction started. Hammer Homes had internet based software that kept us up to date with each phase and choices needed for that next phase. Fortunately either my wife or I or both were able to come to Colorado to make on site decisions as well. When an adjustment was needed or desired it was done. An example: we noticed that the fireplace insert was ever so slightly off center, about an inch. The stone facing had been installed as well. It was only confirmed with measurement. Dave called the installer to have it corrected. I heard only Dave’s side of the conversation but it was clear that the installer was hesitant to admit any error. Finally Dave said effectively, “It doesn’t matter what you think, it matters what the customer thinks.” It was fixed the next day. Dave stayed on budget and on time. His subcontractors were courteous and capable and also on time. Debbie works well with interior design aspects within the house as well as decorating ideas. She does not pass herself off as a professional but she has a good eye just the same and we used many of her ideas. When a professional interior designer became necessary we were introduced to one. We love our house today and if we decided to build a new one tomorrow, it would be built by Hammer Custom Homes.

We are finally settled in and wanted to say THANK YOU to Dave, Debbie, and Dave Jr for a wonderful buying experience and a BEAUTIFUL, well structured home! Dave was, and still is easily assessable. He responds right away, and makes sure his sub-contractors are taking care of any loose ends. He even let us move our belongings in the house before we closed to make sure we didn't have to pay for two moves. This was the easiest moving experience we have had with a builder, and that is a HUGE compliment. We LOVE our house!!! The entire process from floor planning to completion was a stress-free and exciting experience. Hammer Homes was the only builder we considered using after our house burned down in the Waldo Canyon Fire. Our home is extremely well built with awesome little details. Everyone was very helpful and on top of things from start to finish!

We moved into our home 2 1/2 years ago. It is everything we wished for and then some. Beautifully and intelligently designed, solidly built, wonderfully finished, well-sited on the lot - it could not be better. The finishes in a basic Hammer home are superior to the upgrades we saw in several other builders' homes. And, the attention we received from Dave and his team during construction and since we moved in have been outstanding. He checks in from time to time to see how we are doing. In short, he and his family are professionals who build professionally. I note that the BBB gives Hammer Homes an A+. So do we. We recommend him highly.
